We are happy to receive enquiries from individuals or groups regarding private textile tours or talks. At present tours are held on a regular basis in Central London, but we are happy to explore the possibility of holding events elsewhere in the U.K. or abroad.
Our V & A Museum based tours (The Lace Tour and Tea Party, and the Needlework Tour), can all be offered as a private tour for individuals or groups. It is also possible to create personalised tours.
For instance, if time is short it would be possible to have a general textile tour that covers some elements from both the Lace and Needlework tours. Or if you have an interest in a specific type of textile then this can be highlighted during the tour.
An Antique Lace tea party can also be arranged at a hotel or a restaurant. Click here for details of this event.
Events
Ann's collection of antique lace is extremely portable. A holdall contains enough lace to provide a fascinating small travelling 'exhibition' of items that provide a unique display to accompany our lace talks and events. See below for some images from a talk we held in Japan, all of the lace shown having being transported in one small cabin bag.
Events can be customised to your venue. Ideally suited to hotels, conference centres, cruises etc, we can provide both a display of antique laces (dating from the 17th century onward) and a talk, geared specifically to your audience. The talk can be enhanced with a PowerPoint presentation, showing images of antique textiles, portraits, costume etc if you wish. Or a more casual event, in the style of our tea parties, with a display of lace and a more informal discussion of the history of lace could also be arranged.
Subjects for talks can include - the History of lace, the History of Western needlework from the Middle Ages to the present, Victorian lace, English and Irish Lace, Lace and Costume, Victims of Fashion etc. We aim for a fun and informative style of talk, suitable for people with no prior knowledge of the subject.
Please email us to discuss any of the above options, or with any enquiries you may have.
